September 5, 2010 | | New Dimensions to 'As Below, So Above' Doug Seeley
Recent understandings of patterns in Nature strongly suggest that subtle organizational principles are at work in the Cosmos. These principles are like mirrors that go beyond the usual notion of “as above, so below”, deep into the meaning of life, evolution and especially, into the sacredness of our everyday lives.

September 12, 2010 | | Beloved Community Rev. Melora Lynngood
Rev. Melora will introduce our preaching theme for the year (a theme to which at least one sermon per month will be related). Becoming a “Beloved Community” is about being our best selves—with one another, in the larger world. What is your image of your own best self? Not your perfect self, your best authentic self—relaxed, open, kind, compassionate, loving…? What helps you ground yourself in that best self you long to be? What gets in your way? When we practice being our best selves together at FUCV, we create a beloved community with the power to transform lives—within and beyond the congregation. (See minister’s column for more about this year’s preaching theme, “beloved community.”)

We all wish to live in a way that is meaningful, and yet we frequently feel adrift or unsure that we are on the right path. This morning, we will examine what calling and vocation mean for our individual lives.

September 26, 2010 | | Radical Hospitality Rev. Melora Lynngood
When have you felt truly welcomed, valued for who you are, as you are? How do you extend that kind of radical hospitality to others? This Sunday, we will look at radical hospitality as an essential component of creating a beloved community.
