Call for Grant Proposals (2010)
The First Unitarian Church of Victoria Foundation was established to promote the principles and values of our Church. Currently the Foundation has contributions invested with the Victoria Foundation totaling approximately $55,000. Income from approximately $30,000 of these funds is dedicated to supporting First Nations post-secondary education through the Church. Income from approximately $25,000, which was contributed in July 2007, is directed by request of the donor to support the music programme and/or social responsibility programmes of the Church.
The Foundation board recommended to the annual meeting in June, 2008, that the Church enter into a three-year agreement with Camosun College to fund two bursaries of at least $500 each for First Nations students with income from the First Nations education contribution.
This year we anticipate around $1,400 will be available from the remainder of the funds. The Foundation is currently seeking proposals from Church groups who need a grant to fund music or social responsibility programmes of the Church. Applications must be for enhanced activities not normally supported by the Church budget. An application form is available at the Church office or from the link below. Deadline for proposals is April 15, 2010. Please refer questions to Frances Hancock, Judy Gaylord or John Hopewell.
