Leadership program (grade 9-12)

Our Youth Leadership Program will develop a personal plan for youth to explore a number of leadership roles within the church with the support of one or more mentors who have experience in their area(s) of interest.  We will aim to give participants a broad understanding of church leadership and will work with them to explore their specific interests and develop their leadership skills. Each youth will explore what feeds their spiritual growth and where they can best share their gifts. Their program may include:
  • Leading elements of services
  • Greeter/Usher
  • Video recording/editing
  • Children’s programs
  • Playing music or singing in services
  • Social and/or environmental justice
  • Social media/web/communications
  • Library
  • Governance
  • Fundraising
  • Other areas identified in consultation with youth

Participants will also have opportunities to develop their own spiritual practice, connect with other UU youth, and attend a UU youth conference.

Youth may start at any time through the year and the schedule will be flexible and can be shaped around their school and other commitments. We can give youth confirmation of volunteer hours if needed for school graduation. A reference can be provided for work/school/volunteer opportunities for youth who successfully complete the program.
