Our Library

Seeking library volunteers: Are you interested? Contact arran@victoriaunitarian.ca or 250-744-2695 for more info.

The Victoria Unitarian congregation has a well-stocked Library of about 2,000 books on a variety of subjects of interest to Unitarian Universalists. Books on all aspects of religion, including world religions, are available as well as books on philosophy, psychology, the environment, social justice issues, literature, biographies and history.

Search our catalogue by keywords including title, author, or subject. Note that all books are currently listed as available – even if they have been checked out – since books are currently self-checked out and returned on the honour system until we have a volunteer willing to update check-ins and check-outs.

How to Access Our Collection:

You’re welcome to use the library any time the room is not being used for meetings. It is located off the hallway of the Sanctuary, beside the back door of the Sanctuary.

Any member, friend or family with children registered in our programs may borrow items from the Library, using the ‘self-service’ basket to sign out materials. The loan period is four weeks. Visitors may borrow materials with a member’s sponsorship (the member signs the book out on behalf of the guest and is responsible for returning it).

How to Support Our Library:

There are several ways we can support the work of our Library.

  • Volunteer to be on the Library Team or participate in one of its events.
  • Donations of quality new and used books of interest to Unitarian-Universalists for the Library or for occasional Book Sales are welcome.
  • Members are welcome to suggest titles for future Library acquisitions.
  • And everyone is welcome to come in to just sit and enjoy browsing the collection.
