The Victoria Unitarian congregation has a well-stocked Library of about two thousand books on a variety of subjects of interest to Unitarian Universalists. Books on all aspects of religion, including world religions, are available as well as books on philosophy, psychology, the environment, social justice issues, literature, biographies and history. See a partial list of our holdings. Check back as cataloguing continues. Librarian Tip: Use ctrl + F key to search our list for titles or authors.
How to Access Our Collection:
Usually staffed with a Library Team member one-half hour before and after Sunday service, the Library is located off the hallway of the Sanctuary, beside the back door of the sanctuary.
Any member may borrow items from the Library, using the ‘self-service’ basket to sign out materials. The loan period is four weeks for books and magazines. Visitors may borrow materials with a member’s sponsorship (the member signs the book out on behalf of the guest and is responsible for returning it).
You’re welcome to use the library any time the room is not being used for meetings.
How to Support Our Library:
There are several ways we can support the work of Our Library.
- Volunteer to be on the Library Team or participate in one of its events.
- Donations of quality new and used books of interest to Unitarian-Universalists for the Library or for occasional Book Sales are welcome.
- Members are welcome to suggest titles for future Library acquisitions.
- And everyone is welcome to come in to just sit and enjoy browsing the collection.
