Celebrate the longest day of the year on Thursday, June 21. Enjoy the long summer evening with friends you know and those you haven’t met yet.
***Children (and those young of heart) are invited to dress as faeries and nature spirits. ***
We will have a barbecue dinner on the lawn with outdoor games (hula-hoops, slackline, slippy-slide, etc), a fire-cleansing ritual, and songs and stories around the fire until the sun sets.
6 pm: BBQ Community Dinner & outdoor games
7.15 pm: Fire-cleansing ritual led by Chris Wulff, ministerial intern
8 pm: Fire, songs, stories till the sunsets
Bring potluck salad/sides or desserts to share, as well as outdoor games and musical instruments.
Please let us know if you are coming so we know how much food to make and if you have any allergies. Click here to go to form
To make this happen, we need your support. Can you help with:
- Set up (approx 5-6 pm): Help us get food or games area set up, then relax for the evening – your work is done!
- Clean up (7 pm, 8 pm or wrap up): This may not be the most glamorous task, but it is reported to be the best way to meet people! And we will use compostable plates, so there won’t be mountains of dishes to wash.
- Barbequing (6-7 pm): At every party, there is always someone person who loves to barbeque… Is that you? Your partner? Sign up to show off your skills. (There will be meat and veggie BBQs).
- Leading songs and storytelling (8 pm on): Come ready to share stories and music informally by the fire.
Event organised by SELCY and the Community Dinner Crew.
