Disability, Perception, and Human Worth

Homilist: Michael Langley
Service Leader: Ian Warrender

This reflective presentation asks what happens when a person is clearly visible yet inaccurately understood. Drawing on more than seven decades of living with spina bifida, Michael Langley examines how disability can become fused with assumptions about capacity, identity, dependence, courage, and human worth.

Central question: Are we encountering the person before us, or the story we have already assigned to them?
