Truth, Healing & Reconciliation

FUCV kids learn about native plants during a pro-d day camp

The mandate of the Truth, Healing and Reconciliation team of Unitarian Universalists (THRUU) in Victoria is to identify and facilitate opportunities for education and engagement, in the interests of contributing to the spirit of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. This is a joint group between First Unitarian Church of Victoria and Capital Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

Projects have included several film discussion series. Currently THRUU is supporting the creation of a native plants garden on the church grounds. A monthly submission to the FUCV newsletter makes suggestions for actions members can take to support reconciliation.

In keeping with our Eighth Principle of dismantling racism and barriers to inclusion, our congregation also sponsors a scholarship for First Nations students at Camosun College.
