Eldering
Homilist: Steve Goldberg
Service Leader: Lynne Bonner
Eldering is not a title automatically bestowed by age, nor is it a practice reserved for later life. It is the continuing work of transforming what life teaches us into presence, perspective, judgment, curiosity, and care that can benefit others. Through personal stories, reflection, humor, and music, Steve Goldberg explores five capacities that can be cultivated at any age and deepened over a lifetime. He also considers what generations can offer one another, bringing together the possibilities and digital competence of younger people with the experience and human connection of those shaped by a more analogue world. The presentation concludes with Steve’s original piano music.
Steve Goldberg has spent more than four decades helping individuals, couples, organizations, and communities navigate change and discover new possibilities in times of transition. Today, his work focuses on possibility, purpose, and contribution across generations. He is the author of Renaissance 2040: From Fracture to Repair, Finding the Upside, and Languishing or Blossoming. During the isolation of COVID, Steve began composing and recording ‘healing piano music for a noisy world’ and has since released two albums of original music. At 75, he continues to write, compose, speak, and lead conversations about blossoming at any age
