Honouring Our Beloved Departed
Homilist: Rev. Melora
Service Leader: John Hopewell
As we delve deeper into Autumn, with falling leaves and increased darkness, this month’s theme is “change and stability.” It is the time of the ‘thinning of the veil,’ and November 2 is All Souls Day. In this service, we will honour our beloved departed: family ancestors, spiritual ancestors, any people we loved while they were alive, and miss now that they are gone. Please bring to the service photos (or mementos) of any beloved departed especially significant to you.
After the service, you are invited to visit the beautiful, meditative Ancestor Shrine in the Farmhouse Common Room, hosted by our co-directors of Family Programs. We invite you to add your photo or momento to a community shrine table… and either take it home at the end of your visit, or leave it for pickup the following week.
Note: If leaving it, please add your name and email somewhere discreet so that we know who the item belongs to. Jen and Leanne from Family Programs will carefully gather all the momentos into a basket at the end of the day and have them available for pickup in the Farmhouse office the following couple of weeks.
