Reclaiming Brokenness, Pursuing Repair
Rev. Rebecca Yeo, Homilist –
Mollie Twidale, Worship Associate –
Our world is full of brokenness and pain; it yearns for relief and repair. And yet, our culture shies away from these things, requiring that we put on our shiniest personas and find our way to wholeness through productivity and positivity.
What if, instead, we greet brokenness – our own, each other’s, the world’s – with honesty and tenderness? What if the beginning of repair is loving our brokenness?
The Reverend Reba Yeo (they/them) is a transitional deacon in the Anglican Church of Canada and the Anglican Spiritual Care Provider at the University of Victoria. Born and raised on the Saanich Peninsula, they’ve been a guest on unceded W̱SÁNEĆ and lək̓ʷəŋən Territories for most of their life. Reba, a recent graduate of Vancouver School of Theology’s M.Div. program, is working to complete an M.A. in Indigenous and Interreligious Studies. Ask Reba about queer theology, tabletop roleplaying games, horror fiction podcasts, or what a “transitional deacon” is!
