Lama Janet Tara – Born Janet Goforth in 1949 in Toronto, Lama Janet Tara graduated from York University and the Toronto Montessori Institute. She taught primary level children for several years in and around Toronto.
In 1975 she met Buddhism. Through the Sixteenth Karmapa, Kalu Rinpoche, and Bokar Rinpoche she studied and did retreats (including the traditional three-year retreat under Kalu Rinpoche’s direction) in India and North America through to 1989.
She assisted with two three-year retreats under Bokar Rinpoche’s direction and at his request has supported his North American Mahamudra Seminar for the past ten years.
She currently lives in Sidney in semi-retreat and continues to lead meditation seminars.
