Reverend Melora Lynngood — There is nothing less effective (or more irritating) than someone telling you to ‘be grateful,’ especially when you’re in a rotten mood, or when you are just generally a negative person.
Gratitude is not like an eager-to-please dog that comes on command. And yet, people who live with a sense of gratitude do seem to be happier people. Is it perhaps, worth considering how we might coax a fleeting bit of gratitude to come our way, like a shy bird that might light on our shoulder for a rest?
