Many young women today, including influential pop stars like Katie Perry, declare that they are not feminists. Why? Do they not think people should work toward gender equality? Do they think women have already achieved equality with men? Are they right? Has gender equality been achieved, thus rendering feminism unnecessary? Or does the negative reaction to the word ‘feminist’ itself indicate our work is not done?
